Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you?

Therapy can help you better understand yourself, heal from past experiences, and build deeper connections with yourself and the people around you.

Felt Sense Psychotherapy offers compassionate psychotherapy in the West-End of Ottawa (Nepean), with virtual therapy available across Ontario. We support individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, neurodiveregence, grief, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and feeling disconnected from themselves.

Many people come to therapy with insight into their patterns—they understand what they are thinking or feeling, but still feel stuck. Our work focuses on helping you move beyond simply understanding your experiences and toward creating meaningful, lasting change.

Our therapists offer relational, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed psychotherapy to help you explore how your past experiences, relationships, emotions, and nervous system shape the way you move through the world. Together, we create a safe and collaborative space to develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and connection.

The term “felt sense” refers to the body’s intuitive experience—the emotions, sensations, and inner knowing that exist beneath words. By slowing down and learning to listen to these experiences, therapy can help you better understand your needs, recognize old patterns, and create new ways of responding that support the life and relationships you want.

Whether you are seeking support for trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, identity, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, Felt Sense Psychotherapy offers a supportive space to begin your healing journey.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a regulated, collaborative treatment in which a trained therapist supports you in addressing emotional, psychological, and relational challenges that affect your well-being. Through talk-based and somatic approaches, FSP therapists help you explore and shift patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour, improving daily functioning, relationships, and overall mental health.

Therapy FAQ

What happens during the first therapy session? Your first therapy session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know one another and explore what brings you to therapy. Your therapist will review informed consent, confidentiality, and clinic policies, then spend time learning about your goals, history, relationships, and experiences. The first session often involves more questions than ongoing therapy as your therapist works to understand you within the context of your life. Together, you will begin identifying what you would like support with and whether your therapist feels like the right fit for you. How do I know if therapy is right for me? Many people begin therapy because they feel overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in patterns, or want support navigating a difficult time in their lives. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Therapy can help you better understand yourself, develop healthier ways of coping, improve relationships, process difficult experiences, and create meaningful change. Sometimes the first step is simply being curious about yourself and wanting things to feel different. How long does therapy take? The length of therapy depends on your goals, experiences, and what you are hoping to work through. Some people seek short-term support for a specific challenge, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns, relationships, trauma, or personal growth. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine what pace and approach feels most supportive. What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy? The terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably. Both involve a supportive therapeutic relationship where you can explore your experiences, emotions, thoughts, and relationships. Psychotherapy often involves deeper exploration of patterns, past experiences, attachment, trauma, and the ways your history shapes how you relate to yourself and others. How do I find the right therapist? Finding the right therapist is about more than matching a concern with a specialty. Feeling comfortable, understood, and safe with your therapist is an important part of the process. At Felt Sense Psychotherapy, we encourage you to explore our therapist profiles to learn about each therapist’s approach, areas of experience, and personality. The right fit can help therapy feel like a collaborative relationship rather than something you have to navigate alone.

Land Acknowledgement

Felt Sense Psychotherapy respectfully acknowledges that our practice is located on the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. We honour the enduring presence, knowledge, and resilience of the Algonquin people, as well as all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities who call this land home.As a practice grounded in care, connection, and healing, we recognize that land acknowledgements alone are not enough. Words must be accompanied by meaningful action, reflection, and accountability. We are committed to ongoing learning about the histories and ongoing impacts of colonization, to challenging systemic inequities, and to supporting Indigenous voices, sovereignty, and self-determination.We hold this acknowledgement as a starting point—an invitation to remain attentive to the land we practice on, the relationships we are part of, and the responsibilities we carry in contributing to more just and equitable systems of care.
